Qualifications:
- Must have a baccalaureate degree in engineering, aircraft maintenance technology or other aircraft/aviation technical field.
- At least 10 years aircraft maintenance experience in heavy or line maintenance
- Must be able to read, write and orally communicate in the English Language.
- Must be proficient in the use of aviation tooling and specialized test equipment
Responsibilities:
- The Aircraft Technologies Engineer (ATE) possesses a strong technical background in the field of aviation maintenance engineering based on the related baccalaureate degree and aircraft maintenance experience.
- The ATE provides the aeronautical engineering expertise, technical know-how, assistance, and guidance pertinent to aircraft maintenance.
- The ATE’s expertise facilitates the rapid dissemination of technical knowledge for the servicing overhaul, and modification of large aircraft and returning such to airworthy, and reliable status for the flying public.
- The ATE’s will have specialization in any of the following areas: (a) aircraft mechanical systems; (b) avionics systems and (c) aircraft structures.
- Operational testing, rigging, and adjustments of aircraft systems, irncluding prototype designs, to ensure functional integrity for high performance and to ensure the conformance to type design. The work is carried out in accordance with engineering data, the manufacturer’s maintenance and repair instructions, the customer’s safety and maintenance programs, and data approved by the US Federal
- Aviation Administration FAA). This includes the FAA’s mandatory Airworthiness Directives (AD) and Service Bulletins that are critical for the safety of flight.
- Serve as a liaison between aircraft design/repair engineers, aircraft operators and production personnel in the execution of modification and repair of the aircraft’s mechanical, avionics and structural systems.
- Plan and develop work break down structures for modifications, repairs, and operational testing operations to enhance the mechanical, electrical functionality and structural life and/or performance of ageing commercial aircraft
- Research, analyse, and review technical data for repairs to mechanical, electrical and structural defects, Corrosion or service damages to an aircraft and map-0ut repair strategy, spans, resources and materials needed for the successful and timely completion of defect rectification to restore serviceability of systems and the aircraft itself.
- Research and interpret technical drawings and schematics to develop and implement solutions for service defects and operational discrepancies.
- Research and recommend material substitution such as metallic and composite repair and alternate production methods.
- Work with aircraft mechanics and provide the technical leadership, mentorship and training needed to bolster their competency and experience in aircraft maintenance and repair. Provide interpretation and clarification to sections of aircraft manufacturer’s repair manuals, engineering drawings and other instructions from manufacturer.
- Coordinate with the Project Management team to plan, direct and organize the work to be accomplished in compliance to the customer’s FAA approved maintenance program.
- Provide feedback to the Planning and the Engineering Departments on the accuracy of the maintenance instructions while exploring ways to improve the quality of technical instructions to improve the successful completion of maintenance tasks.
- Work with the Project Supervisor and Project Manager and other engineers to ensure timely and safe return of the aircraft to the commercial customers.
- Mentor, train, and instruct mechanics and apprentices using hands-on learning sessions in the aircraft’s mechanical, avionics and structural systems. This training is vital to train the next generation of workers to maintain the skill level, work ethic and professionalism needed to produce a safe aircraft to the flying public.
