The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical drawings, perform accurate quantity takeoffs, identify cost variables, evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing, and prepare clear and well-supported estimates.

The ideal candidate has solid construction estimating experience, is comfortable working with U.S. residential construction projects, and has a strong understanding of imperial measurements and U.S.-based construction terminology and practices. Experience working directly with international clients, particularly clients in the United States, is highly preferred.

What You’ll Do:

Project Estimating & Cost Analysis

  • Review architectural plans, construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and other project documentation to understand project requirements.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and other project-related expenses.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and measurements from architectural and construction drawings.
  • Accurately interpret and apply imperial measurements, including feet, inches, square feet, cubic feet, yards, and other commonly used U.S. construction units.
  • Review dimensions, quantities, and measurements to ensure accuracy and consistency across project documents.
  • Identify potential cost variables, additions, exclusions, allowances, scope gaps, and changes that may affect project pricing.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies or inconsistencies between drawings, specifications, scopes of work, supplier quotations, and other project documents.
  • Research current material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs as needed.
  • Compare supplier and subcontractor quotations and evaluate pricing against project requirements and scope.
  • Maintain accurate and well-supported documentation for all estimates, calculations, assumptions, and pricing.

Bidding & Proposal Support

  • Prepare estimates, budgets, and pricing for residential and other construction projects.
  • Support the preparation of bid submissions, proposals, scopes of work, and supporting cost documentation.
  • Review bid documents to identify assumptions, exclusions, qualifications, allowances, and potential risks.
  • Prepare clear and organized bid breakdowns for client and management review.
  • Review completed estimates for accuracy, completeness, and consistency before submission.
  • Revise estimates when project requirements, drawings, specifications, or scope change.
  • Assist with pricing adjustments, value comparisons, and cost analysis throughout the bidding process.
  • Support the preparation and review of subcontractor and supplier bid packages.

Project Coordination

  • Work closely with architects, engineers, project managers, site personnel, suppliers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Communicate with international clients and project teams to clarify project scope, requirements, specifications, and cost-related questions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to obtain missing information needed to complete accurate estimates.

  • Communicate discrepancies, missing information, scope gaps, and potential cost concerns to the appropriate stakeholders.

  • Participate in project-related meetings and discussions as required.
  • Maintain clear communication with U.S.-based or international project teams throughout the estimating and bidding process.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain project budgets, cost summaries, bid documents, reports, takeoffs, and estimating records.
  • Maintain organized records of drawings, specifications, quotations, takeoffs, pricing references, and supporting documentation.
  • Track drawing revisions, scope changes, and other updates that may affect project pricing.
  • Prepare project cost comparisons and estimating reports for management or client review.
  • Ensure estimating files and project documentation are accurate, complete, organized, and easily accessible.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, project estimating, quantity surveying, pre-construction, or a similar role.
  • Proven experience reviewing and interpreting architectural plans, construction drawings, technical specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Strong experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed construction cost estimates.
  • Must have experience estimating U.S. residential construction projects, particularly residential houses, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with international clients or international construction, architecture, engineering, or project teams, preferably U.S.-based clients.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of imperial measurements and U.S. construction measurement standards, including feet, inches, square feet, cubic feet, and other commonly used units.
  • Good understanding of construction materials, labor requirements, subcontractor pricing, equipment costs, and general project costing.
