POEA Job Position: Accountant

Location: Papua New Guinea

This role is within our company’s finance department. The group accountant is to provide accurate, timely and relevant accounting information to the higher management to ensure that performance of subsidiary companies including their account administrations and statutory requirements are met to achieve strategic business goals.

1. Qualification/Education Requirement

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • CPA certification preferred

2. Experience

  • More than 5 years’ work experience at senior level (Group Accountant or Accounts Manager)

3. Knowledge & Role Expectations

  • Must have excellent knowledge base of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standard) and consider the impacts on the busines
  • Performing reconciliation of daily activities (clearance and settlements of subsidiary company accounts.
  • Acting as an intermediary between the operations and finance groups to maintain a cohesive and efficient working environment
  • Generating and distributing Revenue Report to Senior Management
  • Able to make internal audits and provide oversight to auditing when required
  • Prepare finance reports, budget forecast and other comparative analysis
  • Prepare detailed balance sheet analyses and income statement variance and fluctuation analyses in connection with closing package
  • Prepare statement of cash flows and supporting work papers
  • Analyze and review complex transactions and prepare related journal entries, including but not limited to acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing, build to suit transactions
  • Analyze General & Administrative expense accounts and prepare or review accrual journal entries as appropriate
  • Prepare group financial reporting and supporting work papers for senior management’s views and decisions.
  • Liaise with auditors on all routine audit matters in all companies
  • Completing all management accounts for all the subsidiaries
  • Preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements for sub-group consolidated accounts
  • Assist in group quarterly, year-end consolidation, group forecasts and budgets
  • Part of team responsible for establishing, reviewing and updating of group accounting policies and procedures in line with changes in business requirements and relevant financial reporting standards
  • Ad hoc project work as require
  • Must have consolidation experience
  • Knowledge of accounting in constructions and projects
  • Any other duties as and when required
