POEA Job Position: Civil Engineer

Location: Papua New Guinea

The civil engineer is required to plan, design, construct and manage road construction projects and supervise work, organize materials and manpower on-site from start of project to end.

1. Qualification/Education Requirement

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

2. Experience/Knowledge

•  5+ years’ civil engineering experience especially in road construction
• SE license highly desirable
• Extensive AutoCAD experience
• Highly developed team management and leadership skills
• Working knowledge of HydroCAD modelling.
• Create designs that utilize a variety of materials
• Member of a professional engineers association

3. Role Expectations/Responsibilities

• Analyze photographs, drawings and maps to inform the direction of projects as well as the overall budget constraints
• Ensure project feasibility through continual evaluation of structural integrity and design practicality
• Perform and adjust quantity calculations for practical and budgetary purposes
• Communicate with team members as well as customers and vendors to ensure maximum cohesion and fluidity on projects
• Forecast design and construction time frames
• Inspect project sites to ensure they meet relevant codes and are progressing properly
