POEA Job Position: Senior Mechanic

Location: Papua New Guinea

This position requires maintenance and repairs of vehicles, will also be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them aiming to maximum reliability and functionality.

1. Qualification/Education Requirement

• Diploma/Certification from a vocational school
• Trade Certificate in motor mechanic (automotive)

2. Experience

• 2+ years hands on experience as tradesman
• 5+ motor mechanic experience
• Fair knowledge of motor mechanic in light Vehicles & trucks

3. Knowledge

• Preferred experience in light motor vehicle maintenance
• Have excellent problem-solving abilities in complex mechanical or electronical systems of vehicles.
• Ability to troubleshoot all mechanical repairs for all auto-motives (manual & auto).

• Fair mechanical knowledge of trucks, Heavy vehicle & generator/pumps a bonus

4. Role/Expectations

• Conduct regular maintenance on automotive vehicles, plant & machinery,
• Examine automotive vehicles and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems are corrected/attended.
• Responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them aiming to maximum reliability and functionality.
• Assemble mechanical components according to specifications and properly diagnose issues, repair, and upgrade and fit back.
• Inspecting vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
• Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
• Inspecting vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade
• Conducting routine maintenance work aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity
• Ability to provide clear direction and performance feedback to Management/supervisor
• Follow, coordinate & communicate safety rules and guidelines in the work area
• You will be required to be in charge of the workshop crews in various areas at a time
• Whenever required, must be able to schedule daily work plan
• Must be able to work on call when required and also be able to oversee more than a single work at one time
• Any other duties as and when required
