POEA Job Position: Senior Plumber

Location: Papua New Guinea

1. Qualification/Education Requirement

• College Diploma/ Trade Certificate

2. Experience

• More than 5 years hands on experience

3. Knowledge

• Skilled in the use of hand and power tools used in the plumbing trade
• Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and safety practices
• Ability to read and follow blueprints and rough drawings
• Familiarity with PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, and copper
• Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to complete projects unsupervised and unassisted
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
• Proficiency in basic mathematics and conversion of measurements
• Reading blueprints and drawings to understand or plan the layout of plumbing, waste disposal and water supply systems
• Cutting, assembling and installing pipes and tubes with attention to existing infrastructure (e.g. electrical wiring)
• Installing and maintaining water supply systems

4. Role/Expectations

• Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in commercial and residential structures.
• Collaborate with general contractors, electricians, and other construction professionals and perform all plumbing activities.
• Follow building plans and blueprints for layout of plumbing, waste disposal, water supply systems and etc.
• Respond to, diagnose, and resolve plumbing emergencies.
• Perform routine inspections of plumbing and drainage systems.
• Light construction, carpentry, painting, plastering, flooring, ceiling and electrical work as required.
• As and when required, keep records of time spent working, description of work performed and materials used.
• Able to oversee large plumbing project crews in various work sites at a time
• Ensure safety standards are in place, for any unforeseen natural disaster, flooding erosion fire and other hazards.
• Any other duties as and when required
