Position Title: UK Accountant

Work Set Up: Office Based

Schedule: 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM (PHT)

Job Location: Clark Outsourcing – Building 35 Philexcel Business Park, Clark Pampanga

Quick Rundown:

We are looking for an experienced UK accountant to take real ownership of client work and relationships. This is a senior, hands-on role: most of your time will be spent preparing UK year-end accounts, bookkeeping and VAT work to a high standard, and communicating clearly and promptly with clients — predominantly by email, with regular telephone contact.

We want someone who works ahead of deadlines rather than up against them. Our aim over the next twelve months is to eliminate last-minute filing entirely. The role sits between our two delivery teams, giving you the variety — and influence — to move where the pressure is greatest and help raise the technical standard of the whole team.

Where this role leads You will deal directly with clients from the outset and become the person they expect to hear from. As trust builds, you will take formal ownership of those clients and their jobs, progressing to Client Manager for your own portfolio. Progression is based on demonstrated competence and the strength of your relationships, not time served, and we will agree a written development plan in your first month.

What You’ll Do:

Year-end accounts and corporation tax (primary focus)

  • Prepare statutory year-end accounts for UK limited companies under FRS 102 Section 1A and FRS 105, from client records to a review-ready file.
  • Prepare supporting working papers, extended trial balances and lead schedules.

  • Prepare corporation tax computations and CT600 returns, including capital allowances, disallowables, losses and associated-company considerations.

  • Raise and clear client queries efficiently so files are not held up.

  • Own the accounts pipeline: work to internal target dates set ahead of statutory deadlines, and escalate risks early.

  • Help clear the current year-end backlog and put in place disciplines to prevent it recurring.

Bookkeeping, VAT and Making Tax Digital

  • Review and prepare bookkeeping to trial balance in Xero and QuickBooks, including multi-channel sales, payment-processor settlements, inventory and foreign currency.
  • Prepare and review UK VAT returns under MTD, including partial exemption, reverse charge, and cross-border and marketplace considerations.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly MTD for Income Tax updates for sole traders and rental property owners, keeping records current through the quarter.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts with meaningful commentary.
  • Bring VAT and MTD preparation forward so submissions are completed early in the window, not in the final days.

Client communication and service

  • Act as first point of contact for a portfolio of clients — managing email professionally, accurately and promptly, and keeping clients updated without them having to chase.
  • Answer incoming client calls, deal with routine queries confidently, and escalate matters to the Director where needed.
  • Explain accounting and tax matters in plain English to non-accountants, and set realistic expectations on timescales.
  • Build lasting working relationships so clients come to you first.

  • Maintain accurate records of client contact and outstanding items in our practice management system.

Working arrangements & data security

  • We handle sensitive personal and financial data and are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office. This role is only open to candidates engaged through, and working from, a managed office facility meeting all of the following conditions:
  • Work is performed from a dedicated, access-controlled office building — home working is not permitted under any circumstances.
  • A supervisor or team leader is physically present throughout the UK-hours shift; attendance and timekeeping are recorded and reported to us monthly.
  • Personal mobile phones, cameras and storage devices are secured in lockers outside the working area.
  • No removable media, printing, screenshots or personal cloud storage on the work environment.
  • CCTV, visitor control and clear-desk / clean-screen policies in operation.
  • Access via controlled, logged remote access only; client data is not stored on local devices.
  • The provider signs a UK GDPR-compliant data processing agreement, including international transfer safeguards, plus confidentiality and non-disclosure undertakings.
  • Staff are background-screened, and the facility can evidence its security controls on request or by site inspection.
  • Working hours align to UK business hours so client calls and emails are answered within the UK working day.

What We’re Looking For:

  • minimum 3 years preparing UK limited company statutory accounts and corporation tax returns — in a UK practice or an outsourcing/offshore delivery centre serving UK accountancy clients.
  • UK GAAP and filing: confident working knowledge of FRS 102 Section 1A and FRS 105, Companies Act filing requirements, and UK corporation tax including CT600 preparation.
  • UK VAT and MTD: practical experience of UK VAT under Making Tax

  • Digital, particularly partial exemption, reverse charge and reduced VAT.

  • Bookkeeping: confident preparing and reviewing bookkeeping to trial balance, including reconciliations, accruals and prepayments, and resolving differences rather than posting suspense entries.
  • Professional qualification: CPA (Philippines), ACCA, CIMA or equivalent. Part-qualified and qualified-by-experience candidates with strong UK accounts experience are equally welcome.
  • Written English: excellent — clear, professional, error-free client emails are central to this role.
  • Spoken English: fluent and clear enough for UK clients to follow easily on the telephone (assessed at interview).
  • Ownership: a track record of managing your own portfolio and workflow, delivering ahead of deadlines without being chased.
  • Integrity: absolute honesty in dealing with clients and HMRC — we pursue legitimate tax planning and reject anything non-compliant.
  • Availability: able to work UK business hours for at least 3–4 hours from a secure managed office facility. Flexible on weekends during busy season, reimbursed with additional holiday afterwards.
  • Xero and QuickBooks Online to a strong standard; comfortable adopting new cloud tools.
  • TaxCalc or similar accounts production and tax software.

  • Linkmybooks or comparable marketplace data integration tools.

  • Experience preparing UK self-assessment returns for rental property owners and sole traders.
  • Experience preparing quarterly MTD for Income Tax updates (recent UK change — full training provided).
  • E-commerce client experience: Amazon, eBay, Shopify, Etsy, TikTok Shop, inventory valuation, marketplace fee analysis and multi-channel reconciliation.
  • Experience reviewing or supervising junior staff.

  • Experience with practice management systems and deadline tracking.

  • We would rather appoint the right UK technical experience and teach the software — training provided in TaxCalc, Xero, Linkmybooks and QuickBooks as required.
  • Organised and methodical, with genuine attention to detail.

  • Calm and professional under pressure, even when a client is upset or struggling — listening and explaining differently rather than repeating the same answer.
  • Brings problems forward early.

  • Collaborative, willing to move between teams.

  • Professional, respectful and constructive.

  • Committed to continuous improvement of process, not just completion of tasks.
